Those that know me personally, know that my real job is coaching at a local swim team, and teaching swim lessons. For those that follow my photography, while that may not be the most obvious conclusion, it should be readily apparent by the sheer number of swimming and pool-related pictures I take, that I spend a good deal of time at the pool.
Having printed three photo books going into the summer, I knew that I wanted to print another, and the week before our summer swim session started, it hit me – why not do a book entirely of images from the summer at the pool? And so I set out to document the summer: I tried to take a couple images a day, every day I was at the pool. I failed. I lost motivation, but I still saved around 250-300 images. I went to organize them, and put them together into a book…and I just couldn’t bring myself to spend $130+ on a photo book. I went on Facebook through my photography page to see if there was a lot of support for the book from parents and others, and no one commented, or offered to help fund the project.
I was a little dismayed, but in the end, that money of mine will go towards other photographic pursuits, and some of the images will find their way into print eventually. For those with a thirst for some of my summer images, here is a fine selection, with the rest viewable in their Flickr album and in the assorted Flickr albums from the Summer LC Invitational.
As always, thank you for you time, and enjoy!
